Family shares images of girl killed in Harris Lake boating accident

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The attorney for the family of 10-year-old Brooklyn Carroll, who died Saturday in a boating accident on Harris Lake, shared new images of the young girl in happier times.

A video that the family shared showed Brooklyn dancing with her father, Matt.

The Carroll family also shared several photos of Brooklyn. One showed her with "Chester," a horse that she often rode. That photo was taken earlier this year.

Another photo taken last month on July 4 showed Brooklyn with her mom, Kim, and a cousin.

Other pictures showed the family's Thanksgiving trip to the Dominican Republic in 2022 and Brooklyn by a pool on a family vacation.

The grieving family also shared a statement Tuesday night, saying in part, that "For the 10 years that she was alive, B filled our lives with joy and laughter."

Brooklyn was a student at West Lake Elementary School in Apex.

The tragic boating accident on Harris Lake that killed Brooklyn also injured Wake County school social worker Jennifer Stehle.

On Wednesday, AnneMarie Flanigan, the girlfriend of Quinten Kight and the owner of the boat he was driving, made her first court appearance. Kight is accused of driving that boat into a group of swimmers that included Brooklyn and Stehle while under the influence, with prosecutors alleging Flanigan is equally liable.
