BURLINGTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man and woman were arrested Saturday after police say a fight and gunfire outside a Burlington funeral home led to a high-speed chase and crash.
Officers responded shortly after 2 p.m. to Rich and Thompson Funeral Home after a 911 caller reported a fight following the funeral of a 2-year-old child. During the altercation, police said 24-year-old Trevonte Jaquan McGhee went outside and fired several rounds from an assault rifle.
Witnesses told dispatchers that McGhee got into a car and drove off. Officers quickly located the car and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, identified as 24-year-old Cazari Monique Russell, sped away. During the pursuit, police said McGhee threw the rifle from the vehicle.
The chase ended a few blocks away when Russell lost control and crashed into a house. She was taken into custody at the scene. McGhee ran from the crash but was arrested shortly afterward. Officers recovered the rifle.

McGhee is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, going armed to the terror of the people, discharging a firearm within city limits, disorderly conduct at a funeral home, and leaving the scene of a crash as a passenger.
Russell is charged with going armed to the terror of the people, misdemeanor conspiracy, reckless driving, and failure to stop at a stop sign or flashing red light.
