CARRBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Carrboro Police Department is asking for help identifying a person seen in security footage as part of an ongoing attempted rape investigation.
The incident happened Thursday on the Frances Shetley Bikeway.
Capt. Jim Walker said a woman was attacked while walking her dog and ran to a nearby house, asking for help.
"She had some visible injuries. She was transported to the hospital," Walker said.
The trail is near Carrboro Elementary School and right in the middle of a neighborhood. The Chapel Hill-Carrboro School System has been notified of the incident.

Authorities are requesting anyone living in the listed areas who may have video footage of the person between midnight and 1:30 a.m. that morning.
According to Walker, there have not been reports like this in the last several years.
"The biggest thing is to be aware," Walker said. "Make sure you're paying attention to what's going around you."
