PINETOPS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Carver Elementary School has lifted its lockdown after a threat of violence prompted the precaution Friday morning.
Edgecombe County deputies say the threat remains under investigation. School officials said the campus has since been cleared, but increased security will continue as a precaution.
Earlier, authorities restricted access to the school and asked families to stay away while deputies responded.
The school is located on East Hamlet Street in Pinetops.
