Two charged after shooting at Sports Page bar in Knightdale, police say

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people are facing charges after a shooting at a Knightdale bar left two people injured, according to police.

Knightdale Police Chief Lawrence Capps said officers responded just before 2 a.m. Saturday to a report of a shooting at the Sports Page on North Smithfield Road.

Investigators say a physical fight broke out between patrons. During the altercation, one of the men involved pulled out a handgun and began firing. One person was shot in the abdomen, and another person was grazed. Police said the gunfire also struck a vehicle in the parking lot.

Authorities said they have identified everyone involved in the incident. The suspect and the victims were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they have recovered the weapon used in the shooting and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Joseph Alston, 34, of Knightdale, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct and damage to property, according to police.

A second man, William Fuller, 32, of Wendell, is facing charges including intoxicated and disruptive behavior and affray.

Officials said there is no additional information being released at this time.
