RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Wake County man is facing federal charges for threatening to kill President Donald Trump.
A US magistrate judge signed the federal criminal complaint on Tuesday.
According to the complaint, 33-year-old Christopher Carnes posted several videos to Facebook in May, threatening the life of the president.
The Department of Justice said Carnes made online statements such as "Donald J. Trump, I'm going to kill you" and told people to alert the "Secret Service in Washington, DC."
He also posted a video showing an apparent bomb in the trunk of his car, investigators said.
Carnes was arrested on June 10 after he made a bomb threat at a Raleigh police substation in the 5200 block of Greens Dairy Road on Wednesday morning.
Raleigh Police later charged Carnes with two counts of perpetrating a hoax in or at a public building.
He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
