
CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Clayton police are investigating the death of a 12-year-old after a disturbance on Commodore Street.
Around 7 p.m., our ABC11 crew saw police, Johnston County sheriff's deputies, and highway patrol at the scene after getting a call about a fight with weapons involved.
There were about 20 to 30 people inside an apartment.
Witnesses told police it appeared that a group of several people were attempting to conceal the weapons from police and one of the weapons went off hitting the 12-year-old.
Ty'ryn Anthony Zah'rel Washington, 20, is facing manslaughter charges for having the gun in his hand when it fired.
He fled the scene and has not been found.
