DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Joseph Savarino is facing new charges in connection with a deadly crash that killed a 15-year-old boy last month in Durham.

Savarino, 26, was already charged with driving while impaired in connection with the April 18 incident.

He's now charged with felony death by motor vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and failure to reduce speed.

Savarino was on Cole Mill Road near West Wyndham Lane when Savarino said Jack O'Shea entered his path while riding an e-bike in the same direction.

O'Shea, a freshman student-athlete at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, died at the scene.

Court documents revealed that several hours after the crash, Savarino's blood alcohol registered 0.11, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08.

Savarino is the grandson of legendary Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.
