MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- An international research and development company is coming to Morrisville.
Coriolis Pharma plans to invest $10 million to establish a state-of-the-art research lab.
The announcement was made Tuesday at Morrisville Town Hall.
The state-of-the-art facility will be set up at the Spark LS campus on McCrimmon Parkway. Coriolis' CEO said the move to the United States was years in the making, but of all the places they were looking at, North Carolina was a clear winner.
The CEO said this investment will allow the Germany-based company to create the lab and do drug research and development without having to ship from overseas.

A co-founder of Coriolis, Dr. Michael Wiggenhorn, spoke to ABC11 about the process of choosing where to set up shop and why Morrisville was selected. He said easy access to fly overseas was important, so the company boiled it down to the East Coast. From there, he said, the Triangle's business climate and the local incentives made the difference.
"I mean, the county supported us, the development center, they found the right people to bring together the right location, and of course, the incentives as well and definitely the workforce," Wiggenhorn said.
Coriolis plans to have everything in place by the end of the year.
The Morrisville location will serve as its U.S. headquarters. And while some of its leaders will be coming from Europe, it also plans to promote local talent and added that the Triangle's research institutions played a role in that decision.
