Crew contain large forest fire in Moore County

VASS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Crews battled a large forest fire in Moore County near Vass.

Forestry officials said a spotter plane identified a forest fire covering 145 acres.

A helicopter dropped water on the blaze as crews worked to contain the flames.

Cypress Point Fire & Rescue said the fire is contained.

One vacant structure was damaged.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities shut down Union Church Road in Vass as a safety measure while firefighting operations continue.
