In Utah, three disabled patients were found dead from carbon monoxide poisoning after they were left inside a vehicle that transports disabled adults.
West Valley City police said an employee of a service that transports disabled adults stopped at his home, leaving the men inside the parked vehicle with the engine running for one to two hours.
The men died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
"I think there are people with disabilities that could be at greater risk for this," Nate Cripps, a supervising attorney with the Disability Law Center said. "People with disabilities are certainly more likely to be abused or neglected."
ABC affiliate KTVX reported that the driver of the van, Isaiah Pulum was charged for manslaughter charge and aggravated abuse of a vulnerable adult.
The three victims were identified as Colton Moser, 25, Mosa'ati Moa, 22, and Tim Jones, 39.
