Driver crashes into railroad tracks in west Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman is in the hospital Monday morning after a crash in west Raleigh.

It happened around 12:45 a.m. near Hillsborough Street at Nowell Road.

Police told Eyewitness News that the driver lost control of her SUV, crashed at the intersection and slid down the CSX railroad tracks. One of the two CSX tracks is damaged, but there should no disruption for train commuters.

There is no word on her condition.

Impairment is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash, according RPD.
