NBA Forward Trey Murphy III teams up with Durham for free back-to-school giveaway
DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- NBA star Trey Murphy III is returning home to Durham to partner with Durham Parks and Recreation for the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Community Bash this summer.
The event will take place on Saturday, July 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the I.R. Holmes Sr. Recreation Center at Campus Hills.
The New Orleans Pelicans forward will be on-site for an afternoon of games, arts and crafts, free school supplies, community resources, and more.

Vendors and local organizations will also provide Durham families with access to health, dental, and vision screenings, prescription glasses, free books, haircuts, community resources, food trucks, and live entertainment.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required for each child, and because supplies are limited, families are encouraged to register early.

Before becoming a rising NBA star, Murphy grew up in Durham and has remained committed to giving back to the community that helped shape him. He continues to donate his time and resources to support local youth.
