WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Wake County Sheriff's Office said a man has drowned at Falls Lake.
Around 1:20 p.m., deputies received a report of a possible drowning involving a man near the Cheek Road bridge.
WCSO said it took 3 hours from the time he was reported missing until the body of the man was found about 50 yards from shore in about 4 feet of water.
The victim's brother identified him as 30-year-old Pablo Reyes Perdomo who has a wife and young daughter in Honduras.
Gustavo Reyes Perdomo told Eyewitness News the two were fishing near the shore when their net got caught and Pedro fell in.
Gustavo says he was there when his brother fell into the water.
"When we tried to save him, it was too late," he said. "We're just heartbroken because his loss doesn't sit easy with the people he's left behind. We just never imagined that something like this would happen or could have happened."
The victim's other brother, Ramiro Reyes Perdomo, says his brother was a great father and husband.
"He was a quiet and humble man. He always got along well with everyone," he said.
It is the first drowning at Falls Lake in 2026.
