Joseph Savarino indicted on charges in deadly Durham crash

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 26-year-old man has been indicted in connection with a deadly crash that killed a 15-year-old boy in Durham last month.

Joseph Savarino faces multiple charges, including felony death by motor vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and failure to reduce speed.

Savarino is the grandson of longtime Duke men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.

The crash happened on Cole Mill Road. Authorities say Savarino was driving when his vehicle collided with a teenager riding an electric bicycle. The teen died at the scene.

Details about what led up to the crash have not been fully released.

The case is continuing to move through the court system following the indictment.
