According to the indictment, both victims - Jeffrey Whitley and Mary Harris - were shot and suffered serious injuries. Prosecutors allege White acted willfully and with malice in attempting to kill both individuals.

White is expected to be arraigned at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

What led up to the courthouse shooting?

Whitley and Harris were shot outside the Wake County Courthouse in downtown Raleigh following a court hearing. White was taken into custody at the scene.

Police say all three were connected to a civil case.

Investigators say that after a court proceeding, White left the courthouse, went to her car, retrieved a handgun and approached the two attorneys in an alley before opening fire.

Authorities have not released an official motive, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police say both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
