
SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police in Smithfield have identified human remains that were found in a wooded area last week.
The discovery was made Nov. 19 near the 2800 block of South Brightleaf Boulevard in a wooded area near the Neuse River.
Authorities said the remains have been positively identified as Juvenal Beltran Villasenor, who was reported missing from Smithfield in July 2024.
Investigators said there appears to be no evidence of foul play.
The investigation will remain open until the medical examiner's final report.
