Impaired driver with child in car going 103 mph in snow, sheriff says

PRINCETON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A deputy pulled over a car on Saturday that he clocked at 103 mph in the snow on Highway 70 near Princeton, the Johnston County Sheriff's Office said.

The speed limit in that stretch of US 70 is 55 mph.

According to court documents, the driver of the Chevy Impala registered a .33 blood alcohol content on a roadside test. An earlier post from the sheriff's office said her blood alcohol content was .22.

The deputy also noticed a 1-year-old unrestrained in a child seat.

Family members came and got the child.

The driver, 24-year-old Kierra Taina Taylor, of Goldsboro, was taken into custody and charged with driving while impaired, speeding, reckless driving-wanton disregard, and child abuse -- all misdemeanors. According to court records, she was polite and cooperative.

Taylor was taken to the Johnston County Detention Center. She was given a secured bond of $2,500.
