Driver in fatal Raleigh Christmas Parade crash released from prison, records show

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Landen Glass was released from prison Thursday after completing the active portion of his sentence in connection with the 2022 Raleigh Christmas Parade crash that killed 11-year-old Hailey Brooks, according to North Carolina Department of Adult Correction records.

Glass pleaded guilty in November 2025 to obstruction of justice, misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and having a dangerous weapon at a parade. A Wake County judge sentenced him to a total of 262 days of confinement and ordered him to complete 400 hours of community service.

Prison records show Glass was released Aug. 6, his projected release date. While his active incarceration has ended, state records show he remains under active supervision as part of a 36-month supervised probation sentence.

The charges stem from the Nov. 19, 2022, Raleigh Christmas Parade, when a truck driven by Glass lost control and struck Brooks, who was performing with her dance group. She later died from her injuries.
