DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man was shot and killed at a hotel in Durham on Monday night.
Officers responded just after 7:15 p.m. to the SureStay Plus by Best Western at 3710 Hillsborough Road in reference to a shooting.

They found a man who had been shot. Officers attempted to resuscitate him until EMS arrived. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Right before you get to the second door, the one big piece of double ply, the glass is shattered," said hotel guest Clay Edison. "It's got three holes in it."
Dozens of investigators remained at the scene late Tuesday night and have set up a Mobile Command Unit.

Hotel guests who spoke with ABC11 said they were stunned to hear of the deadly shooting.
"It breaks my heart because when you have people who are leading a life of crime and, you know, you just wonder what's going to happen next," said Edison.
Edison has stayed at this hotel for more than a year, and he said the shooting took place near the front office.
"I was going to go into the office, and they had already started putting the crime-scene tape up, but they said I needed to get out," Edison said.
On the back side of the hotel, ABC11 found evidence markers and what appeared to be shot-out glass, as well as more crime-scene tape. Another guest who identified himself only as Lou said he walked out of his room to a huge scene.
"A bunch of tapes everywhere, and they say we couldn't go nowhere. They say everything was blocked off. You couldn't leave. Everybody was questioning. It was dogs everywhere. And
like 30 or 40 cops," he said.
Lou said he had locked himself out of his room and tried to retrieve a key when he saw crime-scene tape all over the lobby.
"What happened? Because, I mean, this is ridiculous. I've never I've been here for like a long time. I've never seen it happen this before," he said.
Both he and Edison said there have been issues with people loitering around the hotel, but neither had seen anything of this level.
There was still no news of any arrests, but both guests told ABC11 that police were using K-9s to investigate in the back of the hotel.
