Former Wake County teacher, youth pastor charged with child sex crimes

LOUISBURG, N.C. (WTVD) -- A former Wake County teacher and youth pastor has been charged with more than 20 child sex offenses, and his wife, an assistant principal in Wake County, is facing felony drug charges, according to NCSBI.

Holly Springs Police, with help from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, served arrest warrants Tuesday for Mikah Douglas Brondyke and Chloe Grace Brondyke.

According to Holly Springs Police Chief Paul Liquorie, his department was made aware of Mikah Brondyke's alleged crimes through the SBI's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

"The Internet has no boundaries, and it obviously shrinks the world so we can get predators who are trying to reach out to our children internationally from out of state," Liquorie said. "In this case, it just happened to be in Franklin County."

Nearly 50 miles separate the Brondyke's residence in Louisburg off Lake Royale from the Holly Springs Police Department.

Mikah Brondyke is facing numerous charges, including four counts of soliciting a child by computer, four counts of indecent liberties with a child, and first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

"I think what's important here is that we will target whoever is trying to threaten our children," added Liquorie.

Though he doesn't believe other children are involved, Liquorie said the investigation does not stop now that Mikah Brondyke is in custody.

"Just because an arrest is made, we look broader beyond that one,: the chief said. "This is just the beginning of the case with the fruition of the arrest."

According to a letter sent to parents, Mikah Brondyke was a former career and technical education teacher and assistant soccer coach at Rolesville High School, who last worked there in May 2024.

His wife, Chloe Brondyke, was charged with felony possession of Schedule I drugs -- Psilocybin mushrooms -- and felony maintaining a dwelling. She is also an assistant principal at the school. The school's principal also said that, though he could not comment further, Chloe Brondyke has been suspended with pay while the district conducts an investigation.

Rolesville High School said the charges Chloe and Mikah Brondyke are facing are not related to incidents that happened on campus or with students.

"Parents have to be involved in their children's lives. And it's not just in their everyday lives, but they have to be involved in their virtual lives," Liquorie said.

Mikah Brondyke was being held in the Franklin County Detention Center on a $620,000 secured bond.
