Father, son plead guilty in 2022 Person County home invasion, murder

PERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A father and son charged in a deadly home invasion in Person County have pleaded guilty.

Nancy Horton, 80, was killed in September 2022.

At the time, authorities believed she had been dead for a while before her body was found in her home on Burlington Road.

Roger Wilkerson, 39 at the time, was charged with first-degree murder, while his son, Troy, who was a juvenile at the time. was charged with second-degree murder.

Both pleaded guilty on Monday.

Roger Wilkerson was sentenced to life in prison, while Troy was sentenced to 23 years. He will be eligible for parole.
