Founded over a century ago, the National Hockey League has featured some of the most iconic players to play the game across 32 teams in the United States and Canada. Between all-time greats like Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr and future legends such as Alex Ovechkin, Sydney Crosby and Connor McDavid, the league has no shortage of quality -- past or present. The NHL is also ripe with excitement: The Florida Panthers notched their first Stanley Cup title in the 2024 season, while Ovechkin is approaching Gretzky's all-time goal-scoring record. Ovechkin's pursuit of the record will have to wait because he's out with an injury that could keep him sidelined for a few weeks.
