ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Repairs totaling $3.7 million at Camp LeJeune have been completed.
In 2018, Hurricane Florence caused extensive damage to over 800 structures in the area. A disestablishment ceremony was recently held by the special unit overseeing the rebuild to mark the project's completion.
"That is comparable to the mega projects we're building across the Navy right now, so it's certainly no small feat," said Rear Adm. Jorge Cuadros, Commander for NAVFAC Atlantic.
Although the unit has been disbanded, the mission continues. The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command will oversee the final phases, with more than 85% of the projects already finished.
