2 killed in crash on I-85 N in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A deadly crash on I-85 N closed northbound lanes in Durham County on Friday afternoon.

It happened around 1:20 p.m. near Red Mill Road, past Exit 183.

A car slammed into the treeline. Two people died in the crash, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

The right lane reopened around 4:20 p.m., the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) said.

No other details were immediately released.
