
DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Several fires at homes and buildings kept crews busy across the region on Wednesday.
Chopper 11 flew over a fire in a vacant home in the 3200 block of Banks Road.

Town officials said no one was inside, and no one was hurt.
Crews from Garher and Fairview assisted with the effort.
Authorities are now working to determine the cause of the fire, which caused heavy damage to the roof and the back of the house.
Firefighters responded just before 2:40 p.m. to a fire in the 100 block of N. Mineral Springs Road.

The flames mainly affected the back of the house and the garage, which had a lot of damage.
Nearly 40 firefighters responded.
DFD said no one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced family. The Redwood Fire Department and Durham County EMS assisted at the scene.
The cause remains under investigation.
A fire destroyed a building that's been standing for 138 years.
The building in the 200 block of S. Bennett Street housed both a residence and a small business, and according to property records, was built in 1887.

Firefighters said no people were hurt, but three cats are unaccounted for.
S. Bennett Street was shut down for several hours while firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control and ensure no hot spots remained.
The case is still under investigation.
