Southern Pines police charge man with statutory rape
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Southern Pines Police Department has charged a man with statutory rape of a child younger than 15 and indecent liberties with a child.
On Oct. 7, police began investigating allegations that 27-year-old Jahmel Raemone Kegler was having a sexual relationship with a girl who was alleged to be pregnant when they learned Kegler already had a 3-month-old child with the alleged victim.
Kegler was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Kegler appeared before a Moore County Magistrate on Wednesday and was taken to the Moore County Detention Center without bond for the rape charge and a $50,000 secured bond for the indecent-liberties charge.
He will next appear in court March 18.
