Arrest made in deadly shooting of 18-year-old at Durham motel last month

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- An arrest was made Friday in the murder of an 18-year-old at a Durham motel.

Suliman Nazir Burnette was shot and killed last month while visiting his family at the SureStay Plus by Best Western Hotel on Hillsborough Road.

Dwayne Anthony Lovett Jr., 17, was charged with first degree murder. New court documents said he fired a 9mm handgun into the motel lobby, killing Suliman.

Lovett Jr. is held in Cumberland County, and he is expected to make a court appearance on Monday. His bond is set to $1.5 million.
