
PITTSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Wilmington man was arrested after a reported road-rage incident in Chatham County, the sheriff's office said Friday.
Deputies responded around 6 p.m. on Thursday after a driver reported that someone in another car had shot at them on the US 64 bypass near Exit 385 in Pittsboro.
Siler City police officers spotted the suspect vehicle and pulled it over. Deputies then took the driver, James Hunter Routh, 22, into custody.
Deputies recovered a handgun from Routh's car.
Routh was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, one count of misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, and one count of misdemeanor open container of alcohol violation.
He was taken to the Chatham County Detention Center and given an unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in Pittsboro on May 27.
No injuries were reported.
