One person killed in Raleigh accident
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- One person was killed in an accident on Edwards Mill Road at Glen Eden Drive in Raleigh around 8 a.m. Friday.
Images from the scene showed a Mazda 3 and a Dodge pick-up truck collided along Edwards Mill Road, causing the Mazda to overturn on its side.
Raleigh police said Russell Winneberger, 49, was travelling south along Edwards Mill Road when his vehicle went left of center and hit the car driven by 34-year-old Vikram Nair of Morrisville.
Nair was trapped in his vehicle and killed, police said. He was wearing his seatbelt.
Winneberger is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Authorities are waiting on test results to see if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Both northbound lanes and one southbound lane of Edwards Mill Road were closed for several hours as authorities cleared the scene.
