Father facing charges in son's shooting death

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Sampson County father is facing charges in the shooting death of his son over the weekend.

Around 4 p.m. Sunday, deputies were called to a house on Butterfly Lane in Dunn following a report of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found Jerry Calvin Dale II wounded at his home. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His father, Jerry Calvin Dale Sr., was later charged with murder.

Authorities said an investigation revealed that the two men were in an altercation when a shot was fired.

Dale Sr. has been placed in the Sampson County Detention Center without bond.
