Cumberland County residents deal with flooded homes
HOPE MILLS, NC (WTVD) -- Shaina and Cleveland Williams could only stand at the water's edge Friday and stare at their home along Cameron Road outside Hope Mills.
The water that's inundating it is still 5-6 feet deep and there's no way for them to get inside and survey the damage.

Here and elsewhere, no one is sure how long it will be before the water goes down. It came from nearby creeks and streams that are still flooded from storm runoff and overflowing dams.
Shaina and Cleveland moved here about a year ago from New Jersey. They say they were caught completely off guard by the rapidly rising water.
"How are we going to start over again so soon? All my pictures I didn't have time to get. It's just really hard," said Shaina.

The couple is not alone. We spoke with many families on their street that are in the same situation.
Cumberland County emergency official say it will probably take several days for the water to go down enough to assess the extent of the damage in the county.
