RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Wake County Libraries is holding its annual book sale with hundreds of thousands of books for sale at the NC State Fairgrounds.
It's wall-to-wall books filling the Jim Graham Building at the NC State Fairgrounds through Sunday.
"We are unpacking 350,000-plus books," Deputy Library Director Ann Burlingame explained.
And, the savings grow over the weekend with family day Saturday - and all books half price.
"Books are half price, hardbacks are $2, children's books a dollar," said Burlingame. "Audio books and paperbacks are a dollar. Then, on Sunday, it's bargain day and bargain day is a box for $5 and a bag for $2."
The weekend is also full of bargains but there are also some surprises for the kids as well
"We're going to have Elsa and Anna from Frozen," she said. "We're going to have Belle, Jasmine, Capt. Jack Sparrow. We're going to have juggling, a band, crafts and the bookmobile is going to be here. So all that is from 10-4 on Saturday."
The sale helps shoppers save, but it also helps teachers. Before doors opened, teachers from public elementary schools in Wake County were invited to shop and take two boxes of books free.
The profits from the sale go back into the county's general fund which funds the public libraries.
