ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A high school runner from western North Carolina went the distance despite unimaginable pain.
Connor Callihan is recovering from surgery to repair a broken leg.
He was running a cross-country race, and said he felt pain in his leg the entire time. Connor was just five feet from the finish line when he heard a snap and fell.
Connor broke his leg in three places, but somehow managed to cross the finish line.
"You gotta do what you gotta do," said Connor. "And I'm sure anyone else would have done the same thing I did for the team."
Connor was discharged from the hospital Wednesday afternoon after having two rods surgically inserted into his leg.
His goal is to run again in March.
