UNC Wilmington hires NC State's Takayo Siddle as head coach

UNC Wilmingtonhas hired NC State assistant coach Takayo Siddle as its head men's basketball coach, the school announced Friday.

Siddle was an assistant coach at UNCW under Kevin Keatts for three seasons from 2014 to 2017, then followed his boss to NC State when Keatts was named head coach of the Wolfpack.

While Siddle was at UNCW, the Seahawks went to two NCAA tournaments and won three CAA regular-season championships.

Siddle replaces C.B. McGrath, who was fired in January after just 2 seasons. Assistant coach Rob Burke took over on an interim basis, finishing 5-8 down the stretch of the season. Burke was in the mix to take over on a permanent basis.
