BERLIN, N.J. -- A New Jersey woman's home was ransacked by thieves who got away with some very precious memories, and now she's offering a hefty sum to get those family heirlooms back.
Margaret Gibson of Berlin, New Jersey will tell you she is determined to recover what was wrongly taken from her ten days ago.
"I just want my stuff. I want something. I want my mom's ring. I want something," Gibson told Action News Monday.
Police say someone in the early evening of August 19th broke into a second floor window while Gibson and her husband were not home.
The thief broke in upstairs, apparently unconcerned Gibson's dogs were downstairs in the kitchen behind a gate, and then rifled through the jewelry box.
The items stolen included family jewelry, Gibson's wedding rings - which she doesn't wear while on duty as a nurse - and her mom's wedding ring. It's especially precious, as it was left to Gibson when her mother died eight years ago.
"If I have a daughter I want to be able to say 'this ring was your grandmother's, I want you to have it,'" Gibson said.
Gibson shared her frustrations through social media.
"Getting the jewelry back and having that in my family is important to me," Gibson said.
It is so important that Gibson is offering a reward up to $5,000 via the Berlin Police Department.
"I just hope that if someone saw something or knows something that they will contact police and just do the right thing," Gibson said.
Anyone with information should call police.
