GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two juveniles are facing multiple charges after investigators linked them to a break-in at the Grantham Pool and vandalism at Grantham Middle School, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation began on June 20 after deputies responded to a reported break-in at the Grantham Pool on Grantham School Road.

Authorities said several items were stolen during the incident.

Two days later, security cameras captured two juveniles trespassing on the grounds of Grantham Middle School. Investigators said the juveniles were seen throwing cinder blocks from the school's roof, causing damage when the blocks shattered on the ground.

During the investigation, deputies determined the same two juveniles — ages 12 and 13 — were responsible for both incidents. Authorities noted that patrol deputies had previously located and identified the juveniles on June 21 before escorting them home.

As a result, juvenile petitions were obtained charging each suspect with:

  • One count of breaking and entering
  • One count of larceny pursuant to breaking and entering
  • Two counts of second-degree trespass
  • One count of injury to personal property

Authorities are not releasing any additional identifying information due to the suspects ages.

The investigation remains ongoing.
