WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man is behind bars and being accused of at least two random assaults in Wake and Franklin counties that sparked panic online.

On Saturday afternoon, police said Anthony Hall approached a woman in the Sam’s Club parking lot in Wake Forest and demanded money before assaulting her.

That’s when two nearby witnesses tried to help, but he assaulted both of them and stole her car.

Police said the North Carolina State Highway Patrol spotted him shortly after and chased him to North Hills in Raleigh.

Authorities said he got out there, ran, and tackled a security guard before finally being arrested.

This is when police said they started putting pieces together and realized Saturday wasn’t his first crime.

They said Hall was the same suspect in an assault in the Food Lion parking lot in Youngsville on Friday night.

He is now facing 17 charges in Wake County and four more in Franklin County and is at the Wake County Detention Center with no bond.
