His wife, Shana Cloud, has been charged with his murder.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Today marks one year since a retired Green Beret was reported missing in Cumberland County.
It was January 28, 2025 when Methodist University leaders said Clint Bonnell did not show up for his classes.
His wife, Shana Cloud, told deputies she hadn't seen him since the day before, but authorities saw his personal items at the house.
Bonnell's torso was found in a pond near the family's home in February.
An autopsy done on Feb. 26, showed Bonnell was shot four times in his upper and lower back. The report says each bullet exited through his chest area. The report states that the torso found weeks after his death was unclothed.
No bullets or bullet fragments were recovered, the autopsy states.
Cloud is charged with his murder.
