According to the indictment, both victims -- Jeffrey Whitley and Mary Harris -- were shot and suffered serious injuries. Prosecutors allege White acted willfully and with malice in attempting to kill both individuals.

What led up to the courthouse shooting?

Whitley and Harris were shot outside the Wake County Courthouse in downtown Raleigh following a court hearing. White was taken into custody at the scene.

Police say all three were connected to a civil case.

Investigators say that after a court proceeding, White left the courthouse, went to her car, retrieved a handgun and approached the two attorneys in an alley before opening fire.

Authorities have not released an official motive, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police say both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
