Father of three killed in Morrisville shopping center shooting

MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A father of three is dead after a late-night shooting outside a popular Morrisville shopping center, and a 55-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held on no bond.

Morrisville police said that just before 9:30 p.m. Monday, John Willis Fraizer, 55, allegedly shot Zachary Horn outside of Ruckus Pizza, Pasta & Spirits, and Crumbl, just down the road from where crews were battling a major apartment fire.

First responders rushed Horn to the hospital, where he later died.

"There was a huge police presence, and fire and emergency," said Dustin Danley, who works a few doors down from Ruckus at Smoothie King. "I saw that there was a guy being arrested right in front of Ruckus."

Family members of Horn, 45, were in disbelief after his unexpected death. According to loved ones, he was a regular at Ruckus Pizza, Pasta & Spirits. He enjoyed watching hockey and drawing. Horn was a proud dad of three daughters, including a set of twins, and had two grandchildren and a cat.

ABC11 visited the suspect's home, but no one answered. One of Fraizer's neighbors in the community, who wasn't home at the time, spoke through his doorbell.

"I know he was a veteran and used to fly helicopters," said the neighbor. "Part of me is relieved he's not my neighbor anymore because I've got little kids. He didn't seem like he was dangerous."

Police said this shooting remains an ongoing investigation.

Ruckus was open Tuesday, but Crumbl will reopen on Wednesday.
