Rocky Mount shooting victim dies; suspect could face additional charges
Courtney Crocker, 54, died from his injuries, the Rocky Mount PD said Saturday.
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man is dead after a shooting in Rocky Mount on Thursday.
Police officers responded around 9:15 a.m. to the 700 block of Cokey Road following a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Authorities later located and arrested Herman Dickens, 61, in connection with the incident.
The victim, Courtney Crocker, 54, died from his injuries, the Rocky Mount Police Department announced Saturday.
Dickens was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. He was denied bond and remains in custody at the Edgecombe County Detention Center.
Following Crocker's death, additional charges are expected pending consultation with the District Attorney's Office.
