ROANOKE RAPIDS (WTVD) -- The Halifax County Sheriff's Office said a man accused of shooting a teen turned himself in on Sunday around 6 p.m.



Just before midnight Saturday, deputies say 32-year-old Shermarquette Bernard Whitaker drove up to a home on Thelma Road and started shooting from the roadway.



A 13-year-old inside was injured. The teen was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.



Whitaker is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property.
