'Toy Story 4' to be a romantic comedy, will not continue original trilogy

Moviegoers everywhere were stoked when "Toy Story 4" was officially announced in 2014. Now, Pixar President Jim Morris has commented on what's in store for the toy franchise.

While speaking with Disney Latino, Morris unveiled how this new "Toy Story" film will differ from the original trilogy.

"This is not a continuation to 'Toy Story 3'," Morris told Disney Latino, in a translated interview. "The third movie ended beautifully and completed the trilogy."

Morris, however, said that "Toy Story 4" will be more of a romantic comedy

"It's a love story . . . it's a romantic comedy," Morris told Disney Latino. "It won't focus much on the interaction between the characters and the kids. I believe it will be a very good movie."

While the idea for the latest "Toy Story" is certainly different, it helps Pixar that the animated series is one of the most successful movie franchises in history. "Toy Story" gave birth to the CGI animation movement while making Pixar a household name. "Toy Story 2" is the top rated animated film of all time, according to Rotten Tomatoes. And "Toy Story 3" is the second highest grossing animated ever made, right behind Disney's "Frozen," according to Box Office Mojo.
