1. Carolina Chocolate Drops at NCMA Saturday 8 p.m. | Starting at $24
The Grammy-winning local group will play on the outdoor stage at the North Carolina Museum of Art. The traditional African-American string band had a couple founding members leave to focus on solo work, but their replacements continue their exploratory nature. Details
2. Pat Metheny Unity Group at the Carolina Theater Saturday, 8 p.m. | Starting at $45
Metheny is a legendary jazz artist who has been called a "virtuoso guitarist and an expansive composer." Details
3. Keith Urban at Walnut Creek Friday | Starting at $29.25
Urban is a multiple Grammy-winner and the first country artist to be an American Idol judge. He's also had several platinum albums so catch his "Rise 'Em Up" tour at Walnut Creek. Details
4. The Pinkerton Raid Album Release Show at Motorco Friday | $6-9
We love this band that includes a group of three siblings from Durham who make a mix of folk, pop and rock music. Their new album, "A Beautiful World," will be available at the show. Details
5. Jamie Kennedy at Goodnight's Thurs - Sat, 8 p.m. | $20
This comedian has been in movies, created sketch comedy shows and a few television series. Very eccentric character who's worth checking out.
