Your sneak peek at Farm Aid, sparkCon, and other exciting events around the Triangle.

School may be back in session, but the fun isn't slowing down around the Triangle. This weekend Farm Aid makes its first stop in North Carolina, and downtown Raleigh hosts another huge block party.

1. Farm Aid at Walnut Creek Saturday | Starting at $49


Launched in 1985, Farm Aid has hosted concerts in 18 states - this year North Carolina makes it 19. The nonprofit has raised over $45 million in support of the family farm system. All members of the board will perform: Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews. Details





2. SPARKcon All weekend | FREE


SPARKcon is the Triangle's annual creative explosion! There are tons of events with more than 2,000 artists and performers involved. Events are all over downtown, including Fayetteville Street and the Warehouse District. Watch the video above for three must-see SPARKs. Details





2. Carolina Ballet's "Firebird" All weekend | Starting at $30


Carolina Ballet opens its 17th season Thursday with the Russian folktale, "Firebird." It's set to a score by Igor Stravinsky and choreographed by Robert Weiss. The program runs through September 28. Details



4. Bilal at Motorco Friday 9 p.m. | Starting at $28


Neo soul singer Bilal performed at the Art of Cool Festival earlier this year - if you missed it, he's back in the area Friday night at Motorco. Durham-based quartet The Beast is set to open. Details



5. Demi Lovato at PNC Arena Friday 7:30 p.m. | Starting at $19.50


Actress and singer Demi Lovato will bring her "Demi World Tour" to PNC Arena Friday night. Fans can expect to hear songs like "Really Don't Care" and "Neon Lights." Details





6. Rubbish 2 Runway II in Chapel Hill Friday 7 p.m. | FREE (VIP pre-party $15)


Ever seen a "Trashion Show?" If not, head to FRANK Gallery in Chapel Hill Friday night for Rubbish 2 Runway, a community show that features dresses made from recycled materials. Garments will be on display after the show until Oct. 5. Details
