RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Friday Night Lights, a tradition, the folklore born in the Permian Basin but carried out nationwide, especially in North Carolina.
"It's tradition, it's great."
The bright lights that shine every fall Friday are built around tradition, competition, and rivalry.
"It's the first big event of the school year."
While Friday night's game at Enloe was a battle between two big Raleigh schools, the fight on the field is meant to stay there.
Last Friday's brush with violence could leave families concerned, but families who spoke with ABC11 said they feel the measures being taken are just right
"They added extra security- we feel safe. Their checking bags; they're using separate parking lots," said Parent Leigh Morrison.
After an incident on Aug. 15 at a football game at South East Raleigh High School, precautions are being taken, doing everything they can to make this family affair a safe one.
Although the shooting at South East Raleigh took place in a parking lot, a police presence was felt among families and fans who attended Friday night's game at Enloe.
"I think people should feel safe. I feel comfortable," said Enloe parent Melony.
The schools know that after the incident, any issues will be brought under the harsh light of scrutiny. And unlike the game, after a mistake, you don't get a second down.
