Monks on 2,000-mile peace journey walk through Chatham Co.

Buddhist monks on a 2,000-plus-mile journey to promote peace are making their way through Chatham County Thursday.

The group, walking from Siler City to Pittsboro, began their trek in Texas and aim to reach Washington, D.C., to unite what they describe as a divided world.

Eyewitness News caught up with them Wednesday as they continue their mission. The monks are expected to arrive in Raleigh this weekend.
