There is a level 1 risk of severe storms in the southern sections of central NC on Tuesday afternoon.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- First Alert-Today & Wednesday: There is a Level 1 risk of severe storms in the southern sections of central NC on Tuesday afternoon and evening. There is also a Level 1 risk of severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening for the entire ABC11 viewing area. The main threat will be damaging wind both days, Locally heavy rain will be possible for all.

Good morning! Showers will become more numerous this morning, along with some rumbles of thunder. Off and on showers and thunderstorms will continue throughout much of the day, turning heavy at times this. With some downpours, there is some risk for localized flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. The total rainfall will likely end up in the 1.0-1.5" range, with isolated storms. Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.

A few lingering showers and isolated storms will be possible early tonight, with generally cloudy skies and humid conditions overnight. Lows will be in the low 60s.

A few spotty showers will be possible early in the day Wednesday ahead of the next batch of showers and storms in the afternoon and evening. With the low tracking so closer to the region, there will be a chance for small hail and gusty winds.

Thursday and Friday we dry out once again, although without a strong high pressure moving in, there will likely be some clouds hanging around.

The weekend rolls around just in time for our next system to move in-it'll bring another round of showers and thunderstorms at times this weekend. Otherwise, will remain around the historical average-in the low 80s for much of this stretch.
