Zebulon town manager charged with DWI, suspended with pay

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Zebulon's town manager, 51-year-old Richard Hardin, was arrested early Sunday morning on drunken driving charges.

Police said it happened in Raleigh near the Carolina Country Club on Glenwood Avenue.

The Raleigh News and Observer reports that Zebulon town commissioners suspended Hardin with pay at a closed door meeting Monday night.

Mayor Bob Matheny will assume Hardin's role until an interim manager is named.

This was Hardin's second DWI arrest. The first came in 2007.

It's unclear whether Hardin will be allowed to keep his job.
